Marius Schreuder has a diverse career spanning 7 years in the media owner field (Times Media Magazines, Independent Online and One Digital Media) and 11 years in the marketing communication industry (at The Jupiter Drawing Room CPT) and most recently as Managing Partner at Draftfcb CPT.
Having worked on some of South Africa’s most iconic brands, Marius has also played an integral role in managing some of SA’s ground-breaking, award-winning integrated communication campaigns. This has given Marius the unique opportunity of working with media agency professionals, wearing both the 'client' and the media owner’s hat.
It has given Marius a unique perspective and insight into the very real challenge the media industry has in staying informed and having conversations that matter—against an onslaught of increasing information and the reality of limited resources.
Karen Phelan has 26 years’ experience in media strategy/planning, new business acquisition and training. In September 2000, Karen started up Full Circle Media (FCM) together with two business partners and built it into a successful mid-size media agency. Karen was then voted in as Chairperson of the AMF (Advertising Media Forum) in Cape Town in 2010 and is currently their vice-Chairperson.
Her experience in the industry ranges from both the client side: Intercontinental Tobacco Company, Republican Press (Media Owner), Associated Media Publishing, to agency side at White House/DDB. Karen has also worked within the independent media space at MediaPlan and MediaShop.
Through the years Karen has mastered the art of dissecting information, resulting in only the key insights being communicated to time-strapped industry players, clients and staff.
Karen has a passion for numbers and data and constantly seeks out diverse information sources in order to empower others with rich content and knowledge that’s relevant. Moreover, she has a talent for turning numbers and data into compelling stories and solutions.
With a career in the media industry spanning 13 years, Kim has worked with various media owners (Stramrood & Associates), publishing (In-Site Media), digital out of home (One Digital Media) and software creation (New Dimension Technology).
While with One Digital Media, Kim developed and managed digital media networks across South Africa. The networks consisted of media screens, interactive devices, remote music management and touchscreens placed within the retail environment. Kim’s passion for digital media emerged through working very closely with clients to execute the content strategies for particular campaigns and specific FMCG digital networks. This included managing the creative design team that produced dynamic digital content for clients such us Toys R Us, Cell C, Nivea, Wimpy, Woolworths and KFC.
Kim has been an active member of the AMASA (Advertising Media Association of South Africa) committee in Cape Town since 2005, serving as Chairperson for three years and is currently the Treasurer.
